'Enterprise' Apple Harvest Ending, 'Gold Rush' Apple Harvest Starting

Our pick-your-own apple season for 'Enterprise' apples is ending.  Most 'Enterprise' apples have been picked now, and the ones left on the trees are mostly 2nds or 3rds, and mainly too high for kids to reach.

'Gold Rush' apple harvest has just started, and will go until about Nov. 3.  Families who want to pick 'Gold Rush' apples need to have one adult with each child at all times, to make sure the kids don't pick these apples when they're too small and green, or they'll never ripen properly in the fridge.

Pick-your-own apple customers sort the apples as they pick them, placing #1 apples with no damage into white plastic bags and #2 apples with small sunburned areas, cracks or other surface damage into yellow or tan plastic bags.  #1 'Gold Rush' apples keep in top condition for fresh eating for 10 to 11 months in a fridge when stored in these plastic bags, and get sweeter after a month or two, as starches convert into sugars.  #2 'Gold Rush' apples keep for 3 to 4 months.

Pick-your-own #1 apples sell for $1.21 per pound + sales tax, and #2 apples sell for $0.97 per pound + sales tax.  We take cash or checks for payment, but NO credit cards or debit cards, and no "apps", so please bring your checkbook or enough cash to cover the amount of fruit you want to buy.  Come during our Fall Open Hours, shown in the left sidebar, and allow enough time to finish picking and check out before we close at 12 noon or 5:30 p.m.

We have harvested apples from about 10 selections from my apple breeding program for sale, such as these #1 'Sangria Sun' apples.
I also have some harvested #1 and #2 'Enterprise' and 'Gold Rush' apples, and selections from my apple breeding program, for sale.  Harvested apples sell for $1.45 per pound + sales tax for #1 fruit with no damage.  A 20-pound box of #1 fruit costs $28.02 + sales tax, and you save $1.00.  We have some very nice #2 fruit that sell for $1.16 per pound + sales tax.  We have only small amounts of #1 'Enterprise' apples and #1 selections from my apple breeding program for sale, but have more #1 'Gold Rush' apples and will have more 'Gold Rush' until about next May.

I just harvested this 20-pound box of #1 'Gold Rush' apples, which turn bright yellow when ready to eat.  We'll have more harvested 'Gold Rush' apples for sale until about May 2025.
If you want to buy more than 20 pounds of harvested apples, please phone 620-597-2450 a day ahead and leave a message on our answering machine saying the day and time you'll come, and what you want to buy.  If I'm not in our sales building when you arrive, ring the bell on our sales building porch very loudly, so I can hear it when I'm harvesting near the back of our orchards.

We've now sold out of all pears and Asian pears for the season.  Revised projected sales dates for all our crops are shown in the updated sidebar at left under Crop Sales Seasons.  That also tells which crops we sell harvested, and which crops we sell pick-your-own.

We sold out of our 2023 pecan crop on Oct. 4.  We'll start selling our 2024 pecan crop in mid-Nov., as we do every year.  It looks to be another great pecan crop, so we'll likely have harvested, cracked pecans for sale from Nov. 14 until Sept. 2025.

As always, we take cash or checks for payment, but NO credit cards or debit cards, and no "apps".  We don't use a smart phone, and have no phone line to the sales building.  So please bring your checkbook or enough cash to cover the amount of fruit you want to buy.  Thanks.
