Many Cracked Pecans, 'Enterprise' & 'Gold Rush' Apples

We started selling our new pecan crop on Nov. 12, and we'll have cracked pecans for sale until about mid-Sept. 2026, as shown at left under Crop Sales Seasons.  That also tells which crops we sell harvested, and which crops we sell pick-your-own.

My husband Bill has been very busy harvesting our 2025 pecan crop for the last 2 weeks.  Each morning he uses our mechanical trunk shaker to shake the nuts from a tree row to the ground, then each afternoon he uses our mechanical harvester to scoop up the nuts with rubber fingers.  Each evening he runs the harvested pecans through our field cleaner, then our stationary cleaner in our pecan building, to remove debris.

Bill loads the cleaned pecans into burlap sacks holding 65 to 70 pounds each, and lets them dry for 7 to 10 days.  Then he cracks them using our pecan cracking machine, which removes 2/3 of the loose shell fragments.

We now have selections from Bill's pecan breeding program for sale. The plastic box show what the cracked pecans look like inside the paper bags.
Pecans store well for 3-4 months in a fridge, and for over 6 years in a freezer.  We sell cracked pecans in 4-pound bags, which are over 75% pecan kernels and under 25% shell fragments.  Each bag has the equivalent of 6 pounds of in-shell pecans, and when you pick out the kernels, you get 3 pounds or more of nutmeats.  Each bag costs $19.70 + sales tax.

We now have over 2200 pounds (90 large bins) of harvested 'Enterprise' apples, and over 1100 pounds (45 large bins) of 'Gold Rush' apples, stored in our larger cooler in our pecan building.  We're still picking more 'Gold Rush' apples into large bins, whenever the weather is nice.  I'll sort apples out of these bins all winter and spring, into 20-pound trays for sale.

We'll have harvested 'Enterprise' apples for sale until about mid-June 2026, and 'Gold Rush' apples for sale until about mid-July 2026.  For the next month or so, we'll also have some harvested apples from my apple breeding program.

'Gold Rush' apples turn bright yellow when ready to eat. We'll have harvested 'Gold Rush' apples for sale until about mid-July 2026.
Harvested apples sell for $1.48 per pound + sales tax for #1 fruit with no damage.  I sort and pack apples into bags in boxes that I weigh to 20 pounds, so if you get a 20-pound box of #1 apples you save $1.00.  We also have some nice #2 fruit, with some surface scarring but no internal damage, that sells for just $1.18 per pound + sales tax, and often sells quickly.

Rain is very likely all day this Thurs. Nov. 20, so I'll be in the sales building all during our open hours, sorting and packing apples.  Rainy days are great days to come buy fruit and pecans, since you don't have to call me in from the orchards.

If I'm not in the sales building when you arrive, ring the bell VERY loudly so I can hear it from the back of the orchards, as I'm still harvesting apples.  (If I am in the sales building, please do NOT ring the bell.  Thanks.)

As always, we take cash or checks for payment, but NO credit cards or debit cards, and no phone "apps".  We don't use a smart phone, and have no phone line to the sales building.  So please bring your checkbook or enough cash to cover the amount of produce you want to buy.  Thanks.
